Have you ever been to Lucena, Province? Do you know some tourist spot there?

If not, it’s your time to discover the most popular “Tambayan” in Quezon Province, the Perez Park that was located in front of Quezon Provincial Capitol Building and noticeable by Manuel L. Quezon monument. If you’re a Lucenahin it is common for you that it serves as their favorite venue like Pasahan sa Lucena, Quezon Activites, contest like Band Battle, and where some students’ do practices and also dating. It’s a place where you can do everything and serves as you relaxing place.

How many stories have you heard about this place? Well, to further know, Perez Park known as Sunken Garden was donated with seven hectares of land way back early 1920’s. It was named after the late Governor Don Felimon E.Perez, who was then an influential leader in Lucena and son of Don Simoun Perez.

Based on the book published in 1987, Perez Park make as the second biggest and most beautiful parks in the Philippines next in Luneta Park and Rizal Park. If you know, it is divided into 4 blocks which serves as the section of the activities you can do in this place. The first block is the playground, where you can also found cave-like bandstand and food stall. On the second block are the rock monument with fishpond or known as stone map. On the third block were you can find shrine made with concrete images of teacher, policemen, road workers and white-collar state employees. This was surrounded with a stone fish that was designed as fishpond. And on the fourth block, you will see the multi-colored jet fountain that was built in 1967 and the monument of our “Ama ng Wika”, Manuel L. Quezon. And on the back of the Capitol Building was the Convention Event, where Artist, meetings, Liga and Pageants was held.

As time pass by, the original beauty has been under administration of the late Gov. Anacleto Alcala to add some beauty to the park. If you visited this place back then, it is now different from the park you saw. This place became more clean but the trees has cut down. After all, Perez Park made it to the list of best parks in the country before, with our combined efforts, we could probably do it once more. So what can you suggest to make this happen?
